About Mark
Active in community service work, Mark Cook was elected to the College Park City Council on November 6, 2007 and re-elected in 2009. He serves on the board of the Prince George’s Family Crisis Center and he served as the Chair of the College Park Advisory Planning Commission (APC) and was a member of College Park’s Committee for a Better Environment (CBE).
A technology and performance management adviser with over twenty years professional experience, Mark Cook also served as the Co-Chair of the Public Affairs Group of the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce, an organization that works to educate elected officials on issues of economic development.
Mark Cook is a highly motivated executive with diversified management experience. He is committed to public service and to improving government performance by applying business and technical expertise to effectively meet public needs.
Mark Cook’s strong desire to serve on the Prince George’s Board of Education is deeply rooted in a belief that pragmatism and independent thinking are essential to improving and maintaining a successful school system.
Mark Cook is a strong advocate for investing in our public schools. He believes in empowering parents to participate in the education process of their children and to challenging students to meet higher academic standards.
A graduate of public schools, he seeks to give all students in the Prince George’s system, regardless of circumstances, the chance to develop the skills they need to succeed.
Mark Cook advises governments, corporations and non-governmental organizations on technology and performance management. He lives in College Park and is married to Sylvia Bolivar. They are the proud parents of two-year-old Wyatt.
